Inspiring Future Engineers
Hi! My name is Dan, I'm a Formula 1 engineer. Ever since I was a kid I have always been intrigued by engineering, fast cars, and in general by motorsport. My earliest memory with F1 takes me back to the famous Ferrari/Schumacher era. At that time, I was only a kid, but I remember watching him running with the screaming V10 with my mouth wide open. Those moments most likely made an impact on my life, because by the age of 12, I had been asked at school the typical question: what do you want to become when you grow up? My answer was: An engineer! After this, the path to engineering uni was pretty clear!

By the time I was finishing my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, I had the opportunity to design a 3D printable functional V8 engine model, which I chose to be a copy of the M156 V8 AMG engine. Interestingly, years after this became my main specialty in F1, to design parts of the car and the Power Unit. I think it's important to mention that the road wasn't easy nor quick, coming from abroad, having had to move to the UK alone, with little guidance, support and budget. During my student years, and to be able to pay my student fees and travel I had the opportunity to experience what is to be a taxi driver, a laborer, a bartender, a physics teacher, a bouncer, and a few more things I don't recall. No matter how long or hard the journey was, it was all worth it in the end. Now is my time to give back and help young engineers to achieve their goal! I wish I had a mentor at the time!
